My name is Jennifer Martin and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, WA. I work with adults seeking support for various life challenges including trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction and family of origin issues. I utilize therapeutic modalities including Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, Post-Induction Therapy (Inner Child Healing), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-informed Expressive Arts Therapy.
My style is warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, direct and humorous. In session, I prioritize emotional safety and collaboration. My goal as a therapist is to help individuals connect with a sense of empowerment so they can make effective life decisions, create safety and engage in activities that bring joy and fulfillment. I am honored to guide clients in this process.
Prior to becoming a Counselor, I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and worked in the field of Graphic Design for ten years. My desire to help others, make meaningful connections and use creativity for healing led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy.
I began my counseling career leading Expressive Arts Therapy groups at The Meadows, a renowned treatment center in Arizona specializing in trauma and addiction. I had the privilege of training under leaders in the counseling field including Claudia Black, Peter Levine, Pia Mellody, Bessel van der Kolk and Shelley Uram. I moved to Seattle in 2017 and spent my first three years in Washington working as an individual and group therapist with clients at The Emily Program — a national leader in the treatment of eating disorders.
I offer individual counseling for adults (age 18 and older). At this time I do not offer couple’s therapy. Individual sessions are 50 minutes and EMDR sessions are 80 minutes. Sessions are generally scheduled weekly but could be more or less frequent depending on your unique needs. We will identify short and long-term goals together and check in on progress regularly. Below are some of the areas I work with. Please call to inquire about a specific concern not listed below! I also offer supervision for associate counselors seeking full licensure.
